Photos of Pembrokeshire
Here you can view some of my best photos of Pembrokeshire in Wales. Over the years I have often stayed in Fishguard, but sadly only ever managed to get out and take good photos of the surrounding area a couple of times. In particular, Strumble Head Lighthouse and Pentre Ifan neolithic dolmen.
Strumble Head Lighthouse is located on a small island at Strumble Head. The current lighthouse is from 1908. I only visited here once but was extremely lucky to get such as a great sunset. I drove up early afternoon so I got to know the location and returned later. Therefore, I knew exactly where the best spot was to photograph from.
Pentre Ifan Neolithic Burial Chamber is a dolmen with a huge capstone delicately balanced on three upright stones. Pentre Ifan means Ivan’s Village. This monument dates back to about 3500 BC and stands on the slopes of a ridge commanding extensive views over the Nevern Valley. The capstone weighs over 16 tons; it is 5m (16ft 6in) long and 2.4m (8ft) off the ground.
