Photos of Jamnik church and around
Here you can view some of my best photos of Jamnik church of Saints Primus and Felician in Slovenia, and the beautiful surrounding landscape. Just like Saint Thomas church, Jamnik church is one of Slovenia’s iconic views and a popular location for photographers. Perched on a hill on the Jelovica Plateau with the kamnik alps and storzic mountain in the background, the church is located in the little village of Jamnik. This little village might otherwise be passed off as just another hilltop village, if not for this amazing view.
The church sits atop a bare green hill at an altitude of 831m and is surrounded by forested hillsides. This hill commands panoramic views of the Ljubljana Basin to the south, Kamnik Alps to the east and Karavanke Alps to the north. Like many churches in Slovenia, it’s lit at night so it’s a great location for dawn and dusk photos, especially when surrounded by morning mist. While it can be photographed at both sunset and sunrise, it’s often best at sunrise, especially around mid-May and July when the sun rises right behind Mt. Storzic. In winter, you can capture the full moon rising also over Storzic. Here are some of my best photos of Jamnik church and the beautiful views that surround it.
