About
Me.

"Travel and Landscape Photography has been my first love for many years now."

My name is Ian Middleton and I am a travel and landscape photographer

How I became a photographer

I got into photography after a four-month journey around Mexico filled me with the desire to capture the wonderful life and scenery that had filled my eyes and fueled my imagination. Unfortunately, back then all I had was a very old compact camera with a severely scratched lens, therefore the images I took really weren’t very good. However, I saw the potential in what was there and therefore decided to invest in my first SLR and start to learn how to take better photos.

Welcome to my site. It’s a fun, eco-friendly site made entirely from recycled computers.
I am a
British photographer, writer, and web designer and SEO consultant.

How I got into travel and landscape photography

In the years that followed, I learned my craft while travelling and focused mainly on travel photography. But when I met my wife, who is from Slovenia, and started travelling in her country, then I started focusing more on landscape photography.

If you see my Slovenia photo gallery, you will see why.

Published work

My writing and photography has also been published in EOS Magazine, Mysterious World: Ireland, Lonely Planet, Living Abroad, Bradt Travel Guides, the Guardian and Landscape Photography Magazine, among others.

Workshops & Tours

I run 1 to 1 and group photography workshops, and also regularly make video tutorials, which you can see on my blog or YouTube channel.

3rd place in PPOTY

In 2014 I was very happy to receive the runner up award in the travel category of the Professional Photographer of the Year (PPOTY).

Equipment

While I started out with film back in 1996, it wasn’t until 2004 that I considered digital had advanced enough to be almost as good as film. Consequently I made the switch.

These days I mainly use a Canon EOS R5 Mirrorless and 5Dmk3 DSLR with two L series lenses. You can order high quality prints, framed or unframed, Canvas prints, matted prints, mounted prints, greeting cards and much more. Visit the gallery for more photos, and visit the prints page for more info on products available.
