In this gallery, you can view and purchase some of my best photos of Hunstanton Beach. Hunstanton is a quaint little seaside town in West Norfolk. Due to its orientation, you can see the sun set out to sea, despite being on the east coast. The beach itself is your quintessential English seaside town with a seawall and groynes. I’ve only managed to photograph this place a couple of times while in the area for other work. The first time was on a calm morning when the tide was out. The second time was surprisingly different. The tide was coming in and the sea was rough. That evening I got some great dramatic pictures of the waves crashing against the groynes, and windsurfers against dramatic clouds with the sun occasionally bursting through the clouds to project rays of light down on the brooding ocean.

However, I also learned a valuable lesson. Be careful not to misjudge the tide. While standing on the beach against the sea wall, I could see that the tide was rapidly closing in on the sea wall and if I wasn’t careful It would trap me where I was standing. I figured I had time for one more shot, but alas it was one shot too many. The water had hemmed me in a corner and had to run through the knee-deep water to get out. Unfortunately, there was no time to run back and change my soaking wet jeans, as dusk was ensuing and the clouds were perfect for some blue hour pictures, so I soldiered on.
