Lake Bled Photography Workshop – one day or half day

Join me, Ian Middleton, for a private 1-1 photography workshop at the stunning Lake Bled in Slovenia.

The fairy tale setting of Lake Bled is a world famous town on the shore of a beautiful glacial lake surrounded by towering alpine mountains.

The island church on the lake, sitting proudly in the middle of this immense body of water, is one of its two most distinctive features, along with the lake castle perched high on a cliff standing guard over the town. The beautiful karavanke alps form a picture perfect backdrop.

On this one day or half workshop we will circumnavigate the lake from afternoon to sundown and photograph the island church, Bled castle and all the surrounding mountains from all the best angles, and finish with a sunset and dusk shoot.

For the early risers, a morning workshop is also available, starting one hour before sunrise.

My Lake bled photography workshop is available as a private 1-1 or a group course (group booking together). My Lake Bled Photography Workshop is available all year round, but the best time is spring or autumn.

The perfect place to learn photography

Magical Lake Bled

Lake Bled is the fairytale of Slovenia. It’s a magical place with breathtaking views from all around.

The island church on the lake, sitting proudly in the middle of this immense body of water, is one of its two most distinctive features, along with the lake castle perched high on a cliff standing guard over the town. The beautiful karavanke alps form a picture perfect backdrop.

The best views

On this one day workshop we will circumnavigate the lake from afternoon to sundown and photograph the island church, Bled castle and all the surrounding mountains from all the best angles, and finish with a sunset and dusk shoot.

Spring or autumn

My Lake bled photography workshop is available as a private 1-1, two people booking together or a group course (group booking together).

Workshops are available all year round, but the best time is spring or autumn.

Two great viewpoints

If you want to photograph the lake from above, then there are two great viewpoints called Ojstrica and Mala Osojnica.

The hike to these spots is fairly demanding and takes 20 or 40 minutes respectively. A moderate level of fitness is required.

(Guests must ensure they have their own travel insurance)

DSLR or mirrorless users ideally (but some advanced compact or bridge SLRs may suit. Contact me to discuss whether your camera is suitable or not). This is especially useful for compact users whose camera is not advanced enough for the beginners workshop. Instead, you can come here and learn how to get the best from your camera.

This workshop involves a bit of walking on grassy terrain which could likely be wet and muddy. Good sturdy, water resistant boots are advised.

Head or hand torch
(for working, and getting back to the car in the dark)

(If coming from the UK I recommend Easyjet which flies direct from Gatwick to Ljubljana. Other nearby airports are Trieste in Italy or Venice. (Otherwise contact me for advice)

Lake Bled is a 20-minute drive from the airport, or a 30-minute drive from Ljubljana. From Ljubljana or the airport I recommend you take the Go-Opti shuttle. Use this code to get a 5 euro discount on your first booking: RFLIBK8ABCQA

Depending on the time of year, warm clothes. Ideally layers that can remove or put on as we’ll either be shooting before sunrise or after sunset, in the dark, when it will be colder. In spring the daytime can be very warm, but the temperature can drop quite a bit when the sun goes down. Summers can be quite hot. You may also need a raincoat.

If you are interested in this workshop then you can enquire or book via the contact form below.

Once a date and booking is agreed you will be sent an invoice for payment, a deposit of £100 is payable upon booking and the balance is due at least 4 weeks before the workshop date, unless otherwise agreed or booking was made closer to the date. Payment can be made by credit card (using Stripe), bank transfer, paypal.

If your workshop is cancelled for any reason by me then a full refund will be given, or you will have the chance to join another workshop. Should you cancel for any reason after payment has been made then a full refund will be given up to one week before the workshop date.
