Photos of the Leaning Tower of Pisa
In this gallery, you can browse and purchase my best photos of the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Tuscany, Italy. It needs no introduction of course. The famous leaning tower is probably one of the most well-known structures in the world. Standing at 57-metre tall, the campanile, or bell tower, is part of the cathedral of the city of Pisa. The entire complex is known as Piazza dei Miracoli (miracle square), or often referred to as Campo dei Miracoli (field of miracles).
In 1987 the entire complex was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The famous lean is due to it being built on an unstable foundation. The tower leans at a 4-degree angle. I visited back in the summer of 2006. It’s a difficult place to photograph due to its popularity, and most people are trying to get the cliche photo of themselves holding the tower up. However, I managed to get some views without any or with very few people in it.
Hope you like them.
